Still so lost and confused. Mono/BV/possible herpes infection??
Hello, in early May I had vigorous sex with my boyfriend a few times within a few days. I'm not used to is having sex like that, usually it is slow and not very often so with us having sex like that I started feeling sore. A few days later, I thought I had started my period that month so I was using tampons, after a few days this made my vagina extremely more tender. Almost to the point I couldn't even use tampons because it hurt so bad to insert them, took my breath away. So I started using pads. I was sweating really bad almost to the point that my pad would be absorbed with sweat :/ and I started having extremely hard time urinating..it burned really bad. Before we had sex I was having a slight sore throat. I was taking echinacea and gargling apple cider vinegar which slightly helped. It started to get worse so I go to the doctor and have him swab my throat for strep, it came back negative but he prescribed me antibiotics anyways. The following day I woke up with a fever and would sweat on and off. I go back in and he looks at my throat again and says it looks like mono. So I get a EBV blood test and the results came back extremely positive (in the 200 range). Results came back as this: EBNA IgG: 224.0 positive, EBV EARLY AG IgG: <5.0 negative, EBV VCA IgG: 205.0 positive, EBV VCA IgM: 30.2 negative.
I had looked these results up online and from what I read that this is considered a "recent past infection" or "remote past infection". Even though, I'm having symptoms of mono now. My friend previously has had it and we share a lot of drinks when we go out so I thought I had picked it up from her. My doctor gave me a steriod shot for the swelling of my throat because I could barely eat anything.
Anyways, I also tell the doctor that I'm having some vaginal issues, explained the sex and tampon issue, and told him how I started using pads since the tampons hurt too bad. Well when I was shaving, I had these two pimple/ingrown hair pimples. I shaved over them which caused them to scab. They didn't itch or anything, and they also didn't look like herpes. When the doctor examined them, he asked me how I got them and said I think I got them from shaving. So he ignores and gives me a vaginal screening and swabs my vaginal walls. He said it looked really irritated inside but didn't see any tears/cuts from the vigorous sex. He sends the swabs in for testing, and the results were this. Chlamydia: negative, Gonorrhea: negative, candida species: negative, G.Vaginalis: positive, t.vaginalis: negative. The doctor said I have BV. I haven't had any weird discharge though, just extremely dry down there and the urination issues as well as the bleeding from my period. For the BV, he didn't prescribe me anything because he said the antibiotics I had previously taken for the "infection" of my throat that I thought I had would take care of the BV. I completed those antibiotics.
A few more days go by, and I'm still sweating a lot then getting chills on and off. I'm still on my period as well, which by now it should have ended. So I go back AGAIN to my doctor and tell him I'm not feeling much better besides the swelling of my throat has gone down and so has my fever, as I'm in there I tell him I developed these sores and this time they kind of do look like herpes although they didn't itch, weren't painful and were kind of just "there". Before I went in I took my nail clippers and popped them. Disgusting, I know but it didn't want them there. It wasn't painful at all to pop them. So they scabbed over and he looks at them and thinks they are herpes. I get a igG blood test for hsv1, hsv2 and also a hsv IgM test. All taken by blood draw and sent in. When they got the results back, the nurse called me and said I have both hsv1 and hsv2!!! So I demanded to see the lab paper work. I pick it up and start to read and results were as followed: HSV1 igG 0.32 negative, HSV2 igG 2.05 positive and HS igM 4.18 positive. So here they said I had hsv1 and I actually didn't! I go back into the doctor and schedule an appt and he is talking to me like I've had herpes all my life. I have only been with this boyfriend a month now and I thought it took 3-6 months for herpes to show up into your blood? Is this from a past boyfriend? My ex has cheated on me multiple times, but he said he never had any symptoms although I know they can go unnoticed for men for a long time. And I started to cry while I was in the doctors office because as he was talking to me about them the nurse came in and he said here show her your herpes, and I was like are you serious? And her face was kind of surprised when he said that as well because it was rude and unprofessional. I show her and she just stands there, looks really quick and then walks out. The doctor was kind of laughing and I'm not even joking. My parents said I could take him to small claims for that because he saw the emotional state I was in and for him to laugh and embarass me like that like he thought I knew I've had herpes was SHAMEFUL!
So my questions are...
How can my mono test results come back saying that I had a "past infection or remote past infection" if I was having symptoms now? I've never had mono before!
Can mono cause lesions on genitals? (I've read in some cases it can but I would like an experts opinion)
I previously have had chicken pox, and molluscum, would that effect my antibodies test results?
Why do all of these bacterial infections and virus pop up at once?
I've never had any cold sores or odd tingly feeling in my body..
Also, to this day I'm still abnormally bleeding. I went to a gynecologist and he put me on metroxyprogesterone or whatever it's called to help with it and regulate my system. He said the herpes hsv2 could be a false positive because the range was so slow and that I should get tested again in 8 weeks.
Another thing I would like to mention is that my lymphocytes were low on my blood test: 13 and normal range is 19-48%. And my monocytes were 14 which was high. Normal range for those is 4-13%.
I'm still experiencing BV as well. I previously have suffered with depression and anxiety, have tried taking my life a little over a year ago and I'm really upset that all of this is happening to me. I've seen a psychologist previously and have always been praying to God about making me a better person. If an expert can give me some advice on all of this, please help me. I may post this in the doctors section because I really need answers and insight. This is on my mind everyday.
I wish I had answers for you but I'm literally in the exact same position. Hsv2/mono/bv. Please let me know what you find/learn. I'm so sorry for the way the Dr has treated you. I know the pain, shame and confusion all too well myself. Hang in there
Low lymphocytes could be reason why you are suffering from these ailments. Lymphocytes are cells which help us to fight viruses/infections. We need a healthy lymphocyte count to ward off pathogens.
In your post you have mentioned your percentage count, but what was your absolute count?
If you can give your absolute bloods (neutrophils, lymphs, etc) I can see if there are any clues that may help understand your general health.
