managing epstein barr virus

I was just diagnosed with Epstein Barr Virus after having been sick for 6 months. It started with constant nausea, fever, and utter exhaustion. Now, it is much more mild than in the beginning, but I aways feel a general feeling of fatigue, dehydration, and nausea. I am an extremely physically active person, energetic, and driven, and refuse to accept that I am just going to have to feel like this forever. I know that the symptoms can be somewhat controlled by making dietary changes, taking vitamins, etc. I was wondering if anybody out there with this condition has found a regimen that has helped them to manage the virus and live a somewhat normal life.

In addition, what kinds of laboratory tests/etc have people done in order to assess the situation, and are there other related conditions that I should be vigilant of?

Basically, I'm just looking for a very practical way to tackle this thing. In about 6 months I will be in a position to really seek good, thorough medical care but in the meantime I am out of the country doing volunteer work and have limited access to medical care. I'd like to do what I can with diet and lifestyle while I am away to control the situation, then get after it with my doctors when I get home.

Thanks everyone.

When I had it in 1998 a herbal and holistic doctor put me on a vitamin called "Ultra Preventative III", 1500 mg of vitamin C and 1000 mg. of fish oil. I walked on a treadmill for a few minutes. Whatever I could tolerate and it pumped it deep into the organs and muscles of my body. I started feeling better. I can't say for sure if that is what did it or not, but, I could not move before I started on that particular schedule 2x's a day. Give it a try, I don't think it could really hurt you if Epstein Barr is the only demon you are dealing with. Please check with a professional if you have any doubts in your mind what so ever.

Sincerely,

Diet is very important - lose a lot of the Sugar - no sodas - no junk - eat as much fruit and vegies -  if you juice - do it yourself or buy it freshly squeezed/juiced whatever - Green drinks are very important - chlorophyl supplements - flax seed oil -
  - Liquid vitamins & minerals / extra B's need them all -odorless garlic supplement ( very important it is a natural antibiotic kills any parasites in body - Vitamin C
melatonin I take before bed to help get a deep sleep -
Go to a library or a Natural food store and look at some of the books- I have been reading
Healing with Whole Foods by Paul Pitchford - very interesting - prescription for nutritional healing by Phyllis A. Balch, James F. Balch, James F. Balch, this is one of my favorite books.  Yoga is very important for calming and exercise, and meditation.
I notice that if I get stressed I get a fever, I don't make more than one appointment a week.
I have three kids so I am a busy person - I am also a exercise freak, and I am unable to do what I was doing, mostly because I have run myself down, and that is what you did too to get this.  What happens is that you and others that have this, keep pushing ourselves, like we can do everything (you know) and our body fights and fights to help us to keep going then, POW we trigger the EBV and wammo here we are searching for some quick way to get better.  Not gonna happen!  Trust me I'm suppose to do a 600 mile bike ride, CAN'T NOW!  Oh well, my health is more important and so is yours SO -
REST, EAT RIGHT, GET INFORMATION, just try and get the right information, go back to the stone age, meaning, don't eat ****!  I love sugar and now I am cutting down, I love a cocktail in the evening, I cut those out too!  All I know is that, I won't let this get me down, or get worse.  I know and so does everyone else, if you want to get better we have to cut the crud and eat the way our bodies need us to eat, Healthy.
So, I will do that, and I will get better and I look forward to being Just Fine!
