Doc has no answer for muscle pain and loss of strength

by dave61, Jul 31, 2008 09:03PM
I am a 61 year old male in relatively good health.  I take Atenolol, (4 years) and now Lotrel for a year.  I have lost muscle strength and have chronic pain in my arms, neck and shoulders even at rest.  This only began after taking Lotrel.  I have asked my doctor about this because I had severe muscle pain on Lipitor.  He says neither of these drugs will cause muscle pain or weakness.  Recently I had a physical and my liver enzymes and sugar were both high.  He asked me when I started drinking.  I do not drink because I have a job that requires zero tolerance for alcohol or drugs.  I have had severe pain in the soles of my feet for over a year that he cannot explain also.   I have had bloodwork done since the physical and all readings were normal.  Any suggestions?  The muscle and feet pain gets so bad that I have trouble sleeping without taking Advil or some other pain meds before bed.
