Viagra Side-Effects

Hi All,

I was wondering if someone might be able to answer this for me for my own general knowledge.  I am a relatively healthy 23 year-old male.  In the past, I had been prescribed Viagra as I was having more or less of a performance anxiety issue with this one girl that I was with and used this only a few times to just get over this mental hump and then was ok afterwards having sex without the use of pills.  This girl that I've been seeing for a while and I have just recently entered into an exclusive relationship and per my fear of not being able to perform well right off of the bat (I probably would have been fine without it but wanted to be sure) I used a 25mg pill of Viagra once the second time we had sex more or less as a performance enhancer.  NOTE: The first time we had sex I did not use Viagra and performed ok but I used this to just kinda "sweeten" the moment.  Now to my question...

I understand that Viagra usually begins working within 30 minutes and lasts for up to 4 hours.  The strange thing is is that I took this pill about 4 days ago and still feel as though I'm getting Viagra-based hard-ons per se.  I'm able to get my guy up with limited stimulation and feel as though my erections are firmer and longer lasting even after having taken this pill 4 days ago.  I was wondering if anyone knew of any longer lasting side-effects of this drug (i.e. the blood vessels in the penis permanently widen to allow increased blood flow).  I'm not concerned over my health but was wondering if Viagra does something to physically change something in the penis to allow harder and longer lasting erections and if so, does this have any long-term consequences.

Waringblender - I know you had said that there are no long-term side effects of this drug in terms of permanent damage but was just curious as this drug notes that it works for up to 4 hours however after having sex every day over the weekend, I'm still able to get my guy goin relatively easily even after 4 days.  Thanks all!

Ricky or WaringBlender,

Below is a link to an article I found highlighting that Viagra can permanenty damage the valves in the penis leading to permanent impotence especially in young men who take it more as a performance enhancer.  I was wondering if there was any truth to this.  While I have not had a persistent erection for 24 hours, my guy has definately appeared to be fuller and have a larger girth than previously.  Just something to think about.  Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks for the comment Rick.  I'm curious though, is this prevention of narrowing the blood vessels known to cause any types of long-term risks in a guy at my age (23)?  I honestly enjoy using it once in a while as a performance enhancer but don't know if this would cause long term side-effects, such as not being able to get it up on my own and becoming dependent on the drug for getting an erection.  I know some people think it doesn't but I've also heard other stories and wanted to get an additional opinion.  Thanks.

I don't know about four days, but definiately feel the effects 36 hours later.  BTW:  as you may already know, Viagra doesn't directly widen any blood vessels.  It just prevents the body from prematurely narrowing them.
