Hello.

If you're not having morning erections, this could be an indicator of a medical condition. See a urologist for a complete check-up to determine the cause.

Testosterone does not drop significantly in your 20s, and that shouldn't affect erections.

And self-pleasuring doesn't affect your ability to erect, or your physiology. People are so insecure about self-pleasuring that everyone wants to blame everything on "heavy masturbation," etc. The fact is that there's no such thing. Everyone is different, and everyone has different levels of sexual desire and needs. Some people self-pleasure daily, some hourly, some monthly, some yearly, and everything in between. It's like eating pizza: there's no reason to worry unless you're gaining huge amounts of weight or feeling ill. The same way with self-pleasuring. Unless you're rubbing your penis raw, there's no such thing as "too much."

It sounds to me like you may have some medical problems which can be determined by a thorough exam. Best of luck to you. Dr. J

Hello.

First of all, your girlfriend needs some educating and reassuring. She's suffering from a common misconception--that is, that if your partner self-pleasures, it must mean there's something wrong with the relationship. Nothing could be further from the truth. Self-pleasuring is just part of the wonderful matrix of activities that make up our sexuality. Just because you can have steak every night doesn't mean that you might not also want pizza or chicken. Variety is important to most of us. You might want to refer your girlfriend to www.scarleteen.com for some additional accurate information about self-pleasuring.

As for your question about supplements: there are no non-prescription supplements, pills, etc. that are going to affect erections. In the meantime, why not focus on sex play with your girlfriend that doesn't require a hard penis? There are lots of fun things you can do together. Think of this as a way to become even more intimate with each other, not dependent on some sexual script. And realize that your girlfriend may need lots of reassurance that you're turned on to her and find her attractive. Unfortunately, many women are so insecure that they judge their attractiveness by a man's erection. Tell her she's worth HELLA more than that. Dr. J

One more time: see a urologist. NOW.

There are no pills, devices, etc. that will enhance or enable your erections. The FDA has not approved one single product for this use. Don't waste your money. See a urologist and find out what's going on. Dr. J
