Bicep pain/weakness

I have pain in my right bicep at the elbow when I do certain excercises, mostly pull ups and dumbell curls.  Sometimes it is temporary and others it lingers for days after I work out.  I have given it rest over the last few months but as soon as I think I am okay and I do bicep training a few times it comes back.  It does not hurt when I do lat pulldowns---just pull ups--and I feel severe weakness in my bicep after I have performed a curl and the dumbell is decending.  Is this tendonitis or could I have a slight tear?
