Chest pain at sternum level

Chest pain at sternum level

I am a 24 year old femaile and I have been training for a 10K race for about 6 weeks now and I usually run in the evenings. This morning I went for a run before work, which I've done before, but after about 1km I started feeling lots of pressure in one spot in the middle of my lower chest. I immediately stopped running as I felt a bit nauseous and the pain remained for about 15 minutes, coming in and out in intensity. The only thing I can think of is that I had a banana before heading out. I don't usually eat before exercising, but I have occasionnally and it hasn't caused any problems.

Now, quite a few hours later, the pain has completely passed but my sternum still feels a bit sore).

Should I be concerned?

I have read in one of the running magazine that if you experience chest pain you need to see your doctor.  Please see your doc for this.

Good luck with your 10k run
