Chronic Conditions - Need help with weight loss

I have some chronic health conditions that make it near impossible to work out even at a very low intensity, without my body revolting and crashing, leaving me unable to function for several days afterward. I have chronic pain, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, Arnold Chiari Malformation Type 1, arthritis in my back and I've gained 80 pounds over the last 9 years, 40 of that in the last 2.

When I was able to tolerate exercise, my body still refused to drop the weight, even when I ate well and exercised consistently. I would either maintain my weight, or gain both pounds AND inches.

I am looking at possible brain surgery after the first of the year, and if I can't avoid it altogether, I need to lose weight beforehand to reduce any risks I can.

I am 5'2" and currently weigh 207. I've lost 10 pounds in the last 3 months, with the help of adipex. Obviously I need to lose a lot more.

Can anyone recommend gentle exercise that I can do that won't cause the normal reaction I have been having even after just slow walking?

Thank you both so very much!!! I see my regular doctor next week and will talk to them about the medical fast. Honestly, I *think* my body realized that it kind of needed that itself. The past couple of weeks I unintentionally cut out refined carbs (a lot of bread and crackers etc) and ate more protein and fruits and vegetables (my body seemed to be craving those things badly) and I started dropping the weight quickly without changing anything, and even without the adipex (which I've been off for about a month now.) the doctor is probably going to put me back on it next week when I see her, which is fine.

I will start doing the things you suggested, lying down and using the Dumbbells, and doing knee raises until, hopefully, my situation changes and I can start tolerating more!!

Thank you again for your responses!!!

Pedal exercises,
giving the venous valves in the calves a workout. The valves in the veins of the calf help prevent venous blood from pooling in the lower extremities during movement.

I think you need a supervised medical fast. There are several easy and safe methods and you don't get hungry. Good natural appetite suppressants are pharma grade chromium nicotinate 800 mg 2x/day and 5-HTP 100-200 mg 3-4x/day as needed. What is successful in medical studies is to drink fluds all day, suppress appetite and eat a healthy dinner between 6-7 PM if you got to bed around 11,earlier if bed is earlier. 2/3 plate veggies/1/3 protein, skip the carbs so you are ketotic which further suppresses appetite. During day you can have stevia sweetened herbal tea, water, stevia, lemon juice, water, etc. If slow walking is giving you issues it is likely due to the orthostasis.I would start off with the easiest thing which won't affect BP-lay on back -use dumbells to do curls and bring knees to chest one at a time and things of that nature. Good luck!
