Chronic Hamstring Pull

Chronic Hamstring Pull

I was doing a workout for my Division 1 track program when I pulled my left hamstring exactly 2 years ago. I have done physical therapy multiple times and it has only slightly helped. I then went for an MRI and the doctor said he saw inflammation and diagnosed me with hamstring tendonitis. (I am not certain if I was diagnosed correctly) but because of it I am no longer on the team.

The big dilemma is that any sudden movement will cause pain to my hamstring and the pain feels similar to a pull.(The movement tends to be similar to sprinting or a hamstring curl). It tightens up and is painful for about 30 seconds and then I can resume my limited activity. I have become tolerant of it and i have learned to live with it. I haven't been able to perform any activity at my fullest for quite some time, other than long runs.

Any ideas on what it is?  What I should do?  Special treatment?  Or is there nothing?

Tendinitis problems are some of the most common ailments there are. If not treated properly they can persist indefinitely. The longer your tendonitis lasts, the harder it is to get rid of and the more scar tissue your body develops fighting the injury. If you don't heal your tendonitis quickly and completely, you may be subject to a lifetime of recurrent pain and decreased performance.

Tendons receive relatively low blood flow, so healing can take a long time. What's worse, it's just not possible to stop everything and rest the injured tendon properly. Everyone has demands that make them keep going. In the process we prevent the tendon from properly healing and worse, we re-injure it, further setting back our recovery.
Runner with Injured Tendon

Constant re-injury (you know when it's happening, you can feel the pain) needs to be avoided at all costs. Obviously, it delays the healing process, but what's worse is that every re-injury and additional healing cycle increases the amount of scar tissue that builds up in the tendon. Scar tissue is hard, inflexible, and tough to get rid of. The more scar tissue that develops, the more you lose the range of motion for that limb. This means that your tendon doesn't perform as well as it once did and it makes it much more prone to injury again later on.

If you have tendonitis, it's very important to heal it quickly and completely. If you don't, it may plague you forever.

You can't take a tendon injury lightly. Left on its own, a torn tendon may never fully recover. In fact, if you mask the pain with pain killers and continue your regular routine you may damage your tendon for the rest of your life. If you've damaged a tendon or have recurring tendonosis, you need therapy to heal properly. But what are your options? Expensive inconvenient and occasional therapy? Dangerous drugs? Surgery and a cast? You have safe options!
What You Need To Heal Your Tendon: A Deep Tissue Therapeutic Inferno Wrap,
A Professional Cold Compression Freezie Wrap, High Quality Therapeutic Ultrasound.
These three treatments are the fundamental elements for rapid Tendon repair. These tools are what the top professional athletes use on injuries every single day. That's why they're playing grueling professional sports days or weeks after an injury. Until recently, if you weren't a professional athlete, you couldn't even get these treatments at home. The rest of us would get them in expensive physio therapy 3 times per week for weeks on end. The reason Pro athletes recover in days while the rest of us hurt for weeks is because professional athletes get these treatments 3 times each day instead of 3 times each week.
Like any medicine, if the dose isn't strong enough, the treatment doesn't work. If you have a migraine, taking one Tylenol every other day isn't going to end your suffering. The same goes for Tendonitis. If you have Tendonitis, you need regular treatments, not one treatment every other day. By having the tools to treat yourself at home, you can recover from Tendonitis quickly and completely. It's that simple.
