Dehydration linked to poor liver

Dehydration linked to poor liver

While in college I drank a lot.  I have had my liver tested and the results where not that great.  Since I have stopped drinking and have started cycling on a regular basis.  I ride about 60 miles a day.  At a race a few weeks ago I became mildly dehydrated.  Since then I have tried numerous, I drink water and gatorade all day.  A few days before my last race I drank Pedialite as well.  At my last race I couldn't finish becuase I could feel myself starting to get the sensation of dehydration. Could this be caused by my excessive drinking when I was younger?  How can I get myself rehydrated so that I can continue to train and competatively compete?

I am not a docotor but a common problem among competitive atheltes is overhydrating yourself. This could be what you are feeling instead of dehydration. It also depends how old you are liver damage usually takes many years of abuse not just a couple.

You didn't indicate when the last time you had your liver functions tested. It may be time to get another blood test and seek some professional help, or cut back on your exercise. Remember too much of anything isn't good for you.
