Delicate bones and BMI

I am 5ft. 5in. and have a BMI of 23.3. I have tiny (but strong) bones. I am recovering from a disability that has caused a loss of muscle mass, though I have been building them up for the past two months, now, at the gym and with other forms of exercise. Are my tiny bones a factor? Meaning can I actually be overweight? Perhaps calculating BMI is more reliable using the under water method. Thinking about it, it makes more sense to me.

Hi! Thank you for your information. Yes I agree with the skin fold test. Now I know that I am overweight. The BMI math calculation on paper seems a waste of time, but it can be an eye opener!

There are quite a few techniques to choose from. Some good, some not so good. The least reliable height weight tables are limited they don't calculate body fat.Girth measurements are unsuitable for individuals who appear excessively over or under weight.
Skinfold Measurements are the most reliable! The link below will explain the Skinfold technique.
