Exercise Bike

I just recently got a good excercise bike. I dont do any other weight loss excersise due to the weather here. Is it possible to lose weight by dieting and using the bike 30 mins a day?? Thanks

If you are in good health and a doctor has given you an all clear then yes it will help. But some trainers reccomend that when you are first trying to lose weight to start at 45-60 minutes 4-5 times a week for the first month or so to build up a tollerance and speed up your metabolism. After that you can go to 30 minutes a day 4-6 times a week.

But you should also have some weight lifting included in your program to build lean muscle mass. I am unsure if you are a male or female but a recent study showed that the waist to hip ratio is a better factor for heart disease then weight itself.

This is why weight training is very important as it helps to get rid of the pot belly most men get. So the lower the ratio is the better you are.

Also remember that if you are feeling faint, dizzy, weak, or have any other strange symptoms while on the bike stop right away and consult a doctor.

Also  heart rate is one of the most important factors for losing weight. You can google target heart charts for your age.
