Gaining weight instead of losing????? HELP

Not very happy!!  It seems that I am gaining muscle (I guess), which in turn shows that I am gaining on the scale!  I have been using weights and doing lunges along with my walking, but I didnt want to gain weight!!!!! I know that muscle weighs more than fat, and I have been sedentary for a long time, and I instantly - overnight- went from sitting in my recliner to eating 1200-1500 calories/day and walking 5 miles/day with hand weights.  Is this muscle gain????????

I need to lose 116 pounds, I will never lose at this rate!!!!

FRUSTRATED!!!!!

Any suggestions???

Hello!

What is your present weight and BMI. You need to target a BMI of 25 and depending on your height which is constant you need to pull your weight down.

Physical exercise is a continuous procedure and you would need to have a proper diet chart of around 1500 to 1800 calories per day chiefly constituting proteins, complex carbohydrates and vitamins and minerals. Discuss with a dietician in detail.

Go for cardio for a period of 45 minutes to 60 minutes regularly as in jogging, running, skipping, swimming, at least 6 times a week and with time you will cut down your weight.

Do not worry if you have to lose the extra weight in an year but go in a continuous progressive way for a healthy life ahead.

Take care!

Also, I am walking at a rate of 10 minutes per hour for 10000 steps per day or more, should I walk for a longer period of time and less frequently????
