Groin Pain

$ months of pain - no injury, no swelling, no bruising  just became worse over time.  I'm an active 72 year old male who has been through X RAYS, Ultra Sound, MRI and nothing is showing up - I can't lift me leg over 4 inches off ground, have lot of pain in groin when I do and also as I sit.  Additionally when I bend my leg to get out of bed or get up from couch i get pain on inside of groin area.  Dr. sez everything looks normal and I appear to be very healthy.  hip looks great so he is lost.  I am scheduled for Ultra Sound Cortisone shot on Friday but doubt if that will help since no inflammation is showing in MRI.
Does anybody have any idea what this could be.  I lift weights 4 days a week and DID walk at least 8 miles a week.

Thanks Again!  I'm headed to get my Cortisone shots this morning and yes the Dr is a hip Specialist that seems to know what he is doing but still not finding anything.  Being a past athlete I've had shots before and although the relieve the pain they do not correct the problem but at this point I just need some relief.  X Rays of back show no issues either :-((

Is the Dr. a specialist in hip disorders or sports medicine? When they did the MRI did they inject any contrast serum?
Sometimes it is necessary to find a way to differentiate pain radiating from the hip joint and pain radiating from the lower back or abdomen. To accomplish this, the hip can be injected with a steroid and analgesic. If the pain is coming from the hip joint, the injection provides the patient with pain relief and confirms the diagnosis of hip pain. Once this is established, proper imaging can be performed to better understand how to provide relief. If the pain is not relieved, then the pain is coming from outside the hip joint, most likely the back muscles.

MRI, Ultra Sound, X Rays do not show anything along that line or inflammation so everyone is puzzled at this point. I have no idea nor do the Dr's since I never had swelling or bruising it just started and got worse over the last few months.
Thanks I'll check on a physiatrist.

Check the following! and speak to your Dr. labral tear in the hip or a Pulled Groin. If you go for physical therapy, see if they have a physiatrist that's a doctor who specializes in rehabilitation medicine.
