Headache AND Ear aches during running or jogging??

by jkvins, Nov 15, 2008 03:25PM
I'm a 28 yr old female, moderately active and in pretty decent shape.  I've been athletic all my life, played softball since I was about 9, through HS, and all through college and now I run on treadmills or ellipticals (due to Sport DR's recommendation since I hurt my right hip) and I weight train.  I've recently decided to go to NAVY Officer Candidate School, and know that they run outside.  So for the past week in the mornings I get up and try to go for a 1.5 mile "run" on pavement, and usually about 5 minutes into it, I start to get a jaw ache, and then things progress to an ear ache, and then finally a full blown headache with the ear ache at the same time!  WTF? I run with Asic's Gel Kayanos...so I know it's not my shoes, and I stretch and walk a short while to warm up.  Could it be TMJ? And is there any way to prevent this from happning? My hip doesn't hurt, and I figure my shoes absorb any shock. It would suck if I had to drop out because I can't do a short 1.5 run. Thanks for any advise!!
