How do you Boost your metabolism?

I am a middle age woman that has a sluggish metabolism. I eat healthy foods, low fats and ect. I have a job that required me to sit most the day. I walk at lunch time but when I get home at night, I am tired and don't feel like exercising. Is there anyone going through what I am? I would like to lose 50 pounds and maintain. HELP!!!

Of course the best way is simply to exercise, and if you are already active keep it up!  There are many supplements that you can take to help but you really wont help yourself much unless you exercise while taking them.  Here is a link some things you can try and at the bottom there are a few more links for further info:  http://www.jigsawhealth.com/articles/obesity-recommendations.html.  I hope this helps, stay active!

Congratulations!!!

I am sorry I didn't see you post to me. I would recommend eating more protein so while you loose fat you will gain muscle and that can also helps with the loose skin

Keep me updated !!!!

I am feeling much better. It's been over a week and I know I am eating the right kinds of foods. Even controlled my sweet tooth.  I am eating mostly eating fruits and vegetables and a very small amount of meat (chicken & fish). I am doing low impact exercise and using my ball. I walk when I can. Been very busy at the office. I am trying to measure my calories and it's working. I'll keep you posted.

Are you eating enough fruits and vegetables each day?

Many people don't put enough fruits and veggies into their diets, and it really can change things around for you. Even if you are getting enough might I reccommend Super Reds made by Purity Products (has many servings of fruits and veggies along with some other good ingredients).  I started drinking these servings once a day for a little over a year and a half now, and it really has improved my energy and my general health all around (also I have managed to avoid colds and the flu, even when my parents and friends had colds); no need for coffee (for myself) as a college student.

If you maintain a proper diet, good sleeping habbits (this is a major part of exercising), and healthy and steady workouts, you should be able to reach your goal and maintain it.  Also too much water will turn into weight.  Make sure you're hydrating yourself and not over doing it.

You have to make sure you stay on schedule with workouts though, that right there is probably the hardest part.  When you exercise, simple things like jogging and light weight lifting is all you need.  You could do small home exercises in the morning when you wake up and before you go to sleep at night (like crunches and pushups- also stretching at the beginning and end of each day helps).

Glad to hear about the water.I forgot that part. They say you should drink an ounce of water for every pound you are. A good goal to reach. Good luck. I look forward to hearing how you are doing

Thanks for the information.  I checked BMR website out and it was real easy to determine how many calories I should have for the day.  I will start counting calories tomorrow. I walked 12 blocks in the city at lunch and I am drinking lots of water, which is hard to choke down 8 glasses a day. I'll let you know how I am doing next week. Thanks for listening.

Eat small frequent meals and start working out. You will find that you get more enrgy when you work out. It does take a little while but you will feel better. Search BMR and TDEE. This will give you your calorie needs for the day and then I recommend decreasing them by 500-750.

Good liuck
