I have excessive perspiration (sweatiness) when I exercise

by jaydeal, Jul 14, 2009 02:01PM
I am a fit 32 year old male 5'11" 205 lbs. I have at least 6hrs a week of intense cardio exercise as well as at least 4-5 hrs of weight training.  My excessive perspiration is most noticeable on the racquet ball court.

After a couple of hours of play, my clothes are soaked as if I had jumped in a pool.  I'm in as good of shape as my opponents, yet their perspiration levels aren't anywhere close to mine.

I began to think there might be an issue the other day when I was playing golf. Granted it was 96 degrees outside, but my clothes were nearly soaked after 6 holes.  However, I was playing with a guy who would probably be classified as obese at 6ft/ 320lbs, and he wasn't sweating even close to as much as I was.

I often run and cycle in the excessive heat so it isn't like by body is not used to being stressed in that type of environment.  The excessive sweat while running and cycling isn't a big deal, but on the tennis / racquet ball court and on the golf course, it affects my performance because of the impact on my grip. Also, endurance sports such as triathlons or marathons are pretty much not an option since I can’t replenish my fluids fast enough to keep up with my perspiration levels.

I have researched hyperhidrosis on the internet and I’m not sure this is the issue since I only experience the excessive perspiration during exercise or when the ambient temperature is around above 85 and I’m not dressed in light weight clothing.  I take 30mg of Dexedrine 5 days a week for ADHD and I’m wondering if this could be contributing to the problem.  Anyone have suggestions on natural remedies? I’ve heard it could be a B12 deficiency.

There is no problem with your vitals intact.
Always remember to replenish yourself with lots of fluids and salts while doing any physical activity.
Genetically you are predisposed with more of sweat glands, your density is more and with any form of physical exercise your sweat glands are coming into action.
Try applying talcum powder before coming for sports or exercise.
If this bothers you you have to visit a neurologist for a prescription to control your sweating. As this is a sympathetic-parasympathetic controlled mechanisms you might need a blocker in a mild dose. As every drug comes with side effects i would advice you to go to the neurologist only if it bothers you....Take care!
