Inner chest pain

by stal, Feb 26, 2007 12:00AM
I am having problems with my inner chest. After performing dips I felt a strain in the inner middle area of my chest connecting to the sternum. It is sore but will eventually go away after a week or so of resting. When I begin to bench again it becomes sore once again. Is there anything I can do to help heal along with rest? Is there something seriously wrong?

Do you stretch real good before you start? I don't know much about that area of pain but i will tell you my husband ignored dicomfort or pain in his inner bicep area and one night doing bench he ruptured his peck. The dr said it was the best place for a peck tare because it was fixable. It came off his humerous so they were able to fix it. I don't want to scare you but be careful. If it doesn't stop go see a orthopedic dr and they will help or a physical therapist

wish you well

Hi, I too had that kind of inner pec pain.  But it eventually disappeared.  Maybe u r using a poor form while doing such exercise.  Proper stretching helps you reduce the level of pain.  I wont jump in the story of injury here since u still can bench as you said.  Try to change your form if it id indeed bad.  Don’t bounce the weight not put urself in a near-injury position.

Hello!

The first thing you do is go for an X-ray chest.
Recollect any chest or any spinal injuries, any fall or any other pathological conditions.

You would need an orthopedic consultancy to rule of any problems with your spine and ribs and if required go for an MRI.

With proper diagnosis of your problem your pain will decrease with medications and other conservative measures if the problem in minor.

Do not exercise or exert yourself with pain and wait for proper diagnosis and treatment. You can do walking and other forms of cardio where you do not get pain.

Take care!
