Is my bruising unusual?

by ecl, Aug 06, 2008 09:37PM
I know this my be a little too personal, but I rode my bike yesterday just around the block and I was fine afterwards.  This morning I felt a little sore around my buttocks, which I know is normal, but after getting out of the shower and drying off, I realized that the reason why I was sore, was because I had bruises on my midsection and buttocks.  I am not sure how normal this is, but it is not the first incident of my bruising easily.  My husband and I were playing around and trying to pinch each other under the arms, but not to hurt, just as a small love tap if that is what you want to call it.  It was nothing to cause any kind of brusing or harm.  In a matter of a few seconds I had pink spots under my arm, and then in less then a minute I had bruises.  After about thrity minutes these now small pink spots turned into horribly large bruises.  It looked like someone literally put a beating on me.  My husband and I were completely amazed at how that could have happened, so now we don't play like that anymore.  My husband said that i need to get this checked out because he does not feel like this is normal, but before i go jumping the gun, I want to find out if there is really any reason to persue the matter.  If there is someone out there that knows more about bruising and what I should do, I would really love to hear from you.

Wow! If you are sure that he was being pretty gentle and it still turned into a big bruise, you should definately see your doctor. I know a few people that have conditions where they have to be extremely careful, as the slightest nudge will turn into a massive bruise. I'm not sure if it's something you are born with or that develops as you get older.

Best not to chance it though. I would have said the bruises from the bike could be normal if you don't bike often, but the arm bruises sound very odd. Good luck!
