Jogging on treadmill vs. jogging outside (dizziness)

I live in New England and during the winter I run on a treadmill in my basement. I have run over 250 miles on the treadmill over the last 60 days. I recently started to run outside again and within 10 steps of starting, I become very dizzy to the point where I must stop. Does anyone know why this is? Has anyone had the same issue? I can run 10 miles on the tread mill at 8 minute miles with no problem. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Jack

I live in Wyoming and use a treadmill during the winter.  I haven't had dizziness when starting outside runs.  But there is some muscle imbalances that result from using a treadmill.  Initially my rhythm is off and I must watch the ground closely to prevent tripping.  Also my pace is a lot slower outside compared with treadmill runs.

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
A sudden exposure to temperature lower than you get accustomed to while exercising can cause this dizziness as you exercise with constricted blood vessels. I would suggest you start with simple walking and slowly when you are comfortable with walking increase your pace to jogging over a period of time. To be on the safe side consult your physician once and also get your blood pressure checked.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
