Leg pain after return to exercise

by VUSHKU, Nov 24, 2006 12:00AM
Background , 71 year old male, very active aerobic, strength training , raquetball competition until June 2006.
My return to fitness after 5 months started with 30 min. stair master followed by 15 min strength trainin/stretching 3 days per week, alternate days involved 1 hour efforts of upper bdoy stregth training.
After 1 month using this program I developed moderate pain in both heels,( I have been able to reduce this by stretching calf muscles and rolling a soup can under arch of foot for 15 minute intervals) immediatly (3 -4 days) following the heel discomfort I began experiencing leg pain ( upper outside area of both legs, front of lower part of leg.
Discomfort in both legs most noticable after I retire in the evening ,
I usinig stretching exercises after completion of my workouts but am not seeing any benifit from these.
Is it possible that
1.I need a vitamin or nutrition supplement?
2. Change my lower body work out regimine to shorter periods?
Any advice will be appreciated, until recently I have been able
to participate in raquetball tournaments against those much younger in years-- and now after a 4 month layoff I feel my body not responding to training.
