Lower Abdominal Pain aggravated by running.in 50 year old

I am a 50 year old male& experienced runner (sub 20 5K's). I have been experienced lower abdominal pain (both sides) that is aggravated by running especially hills and speed. I have had this for about 2 months and it doesn't subside. I have taken time off and that has not helped. I have a good diet and am sure to hydrate. Are there any older runners that have experienced this and have any ideas as to what it may be?

Hello!

After a break it is always important to acclimatize your body for long distance running. I would suggest you to slowly increase the speed and intensity and not to exert yourself.

This area of the abdomen is prone to weakening of the abdominal wall. Pain in the lower abdomen, pain in the groin, pain in the testicles can occur with any weakness or hernia or past injury and you have to rule out these conditions by a proper examination.

I would suggest you to undergo scans and rule out any problems like stones or infections in your genito-urinary tract.

I would suggest you to follow up with a physician and continue taking enough fluids and eating healthy before running.

Take care!
