Need Help Gaining Weight :(

Um, hello, yeah.... Its probably rare to see a question like this pop up anywhere. But anyways, I'm 16 years of age currently weighting 124-125lbs. Est. 5'2" or something and not growing anymore. I've been eating protein, eating at least 3,000 - 4,000 calories a day, I try to stay as inactive as possible (I have to walk to school and back and I do leg exercises, that's about all the exercise I do) ,and all (almost all. Some are little snacks: chips, candy, etc.) the foods I've been eating have been healthy weight gain foods, but, I'm just not gaining any weight. I've always been skinny and my metabolism has always been fast (genetic). I've been able to gain weight I just lose it in a matter of a day or so. I don't know what I'm doing wrong I've been thinking of doing the 5,000 calorie diet challenge but I never have enough food to even try. I don't even know if I can slow down my metabolism and if i can, how? How do I keep my weight on?! Please help :( recommendations? Ideas? All will help!

Its good that you are not gaining weight after eating much calories but you really don't need to gain weight. Stay fit don't try to inactive, do exercise everyday will help you stay fit and healthy..

Hi o_W_o,

As Vance and the ScalpMassager mentioned, based on recognised measures you are a healthy weight and activity can only be a good thing, however if you're not content (and that's the most important thing as long as you don't do yourself any harm) then you should make small changes to your diet and monitor the effects.

Look at it like an experiment, with the aim of fully understanding your body and try to avoid dramatic/extreme actions as it puts the body under stress, and it's not sustainable.

A few tips that might help, eating lots of protein alone wouldn't result in weight gain. You would be better eating a balance of healthy fats, carbs and protein but add an extra side portion of carbohydrates and this will help you gain some weight. If you eat healthy complex carbs such as wholegrains and vegetables then you're on the right path.

Hope that helps a little and all the best :)

Be active, encourage some muscle to accumulate on your body.

I do not understand at all why you would "try to be as inactive as possible".

Activity is GOOD.  Seek it out, please!  Do not join the 2/3rds of North Americans who are fat or obese.

Your weight is right for your height. Gaining weight will nto do anything for you, but exercise will. Lifting weights...etc.
