Possibly Torn Muscle? Need Help?

Possibly Torn Muscle? Need Help?

I am 15 but extremely athletic and am frequently work out at the gym. I have had personal trainers and am involved in boxing, MMA, surfing and other athletic sports but I have been out of the gym for awhile. Two days ago I was working chest for the first time in a month and felt fine before and afterward other than the usual after-workout soreness. The next day I went to the boxing gym and did class and today my upper back muscles and chest hurt when I cough. It is a dry cough, not frequently occurring, but still painful. I do not experience shortness of breath at all, just the pain. Is this a torn muscle or is it serious?

Hello!

I would suggest you to rest and only to do some cardio till your pain subsides. Do not exert yourself or increase your respiratory rate to a point where it is painful.

Take some anti inflammatory drugs to decrease the pain and inflammation. If you continue having pain then you would need an examination near a chest specialist and orthopedician. If you have cold or upper respiratory infections you can have cough along with it.

Take care!
