Hi,
I was working out my chest about a week ago, but I did not hear anything pop or even any sudden pain. I left the gym with a very sharp pain when I take a deep breathe or I sneeze. The pain is right above my pec on the left side. I have been taking some painreliever and some muscle rub, but the pain still feels like I had just did this. Is there any suggestions on a faster healing process?
If however, you have suffered mild chest wall injury or muscle strain, you should consider taking rest, try application of ice and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication for relief from symptoms.
There can be many causes of pain in the chest- cardiac, gastrointestinal, trauma related, pulmonary, fracture ribs, etc.
Chest pain from a muscle strain or rib fracture can be caused by coughing.
You should consult your doctor for a complete physical examination to rule out any cardiac causes or in case you have fractured your ribs.
