Recumbent Bike Exercise and Easily Exhausted

by SkyEyes, Jan 11, 2007 12:00AM
I've been working with a personal trainer for the past 3 months, cross-country machine, walking/running, treadmill, weight, etc., and can work out excessively on various levels and it doesn't bother my body.  I eventually get tired, yes, but not exhausted.  They have had me ride on a recumbent bike and every time they have me ride it, I last about 3-5 minutes and I'm physically exhausted, turning red and basically pooped out--I even feel nauseated.

I've been utilizing the bike more and pushing myself, but about 5 minutes later, my right leg start really hurting and I have to quit.  I'm only 39, but am about 50 lbs overweight, which is what we have been working on.  I can ride a regular bicycle for miles up/down hills no problem, just on a recumbent bike.  Should I be concerned or does it just take more to ride the recumbent bikes (about a 3-4 level).

I think you should take it easy on that machine.  Wrok to the point of muscle fatigue, not puking!
