Sharp Pain in Knee

by Teia03, Sep 30, 2009 10:14AM
I was playing volleyball in a racquetball court and bumped the top left corner of my right knee cap against the wall. I thought I was fine until I squatted down. Now I have a sharp pain in the center of my knee when I squat down, try to go up steps, or stand up from a seated position. It doesn't hurt when I walk and I can fully bend and straighten my knee when it's not weight bearing. It cracks when I straighten it and feels like it needs to pop into place or something. Any idea on what might be going on here?

To: Teia03,
Hello!

With your symptoms it seems some amount of ligament damage in your knee joint.

It may or may not be a tear. Ice your knee joint, take anti inflammatory drugs and rest for couple of days. If the problem is persistent you should visit an orthopedician for proper examination of your tendons, cruciate ligaments and if required follow up with an X-ray and MRI.

Take care!
