Shortness of Breath/ Uphill walking/hiking

I can do cardio exercises, but why do I have extreme difficulty walking uphill, steps or hiking? It even starts at the beginning of the walk. I try to eat a healthy diet. non-smoker...Over the past couple years I have gained 30+ lbs. Is this a possible heart issue?
Thank you

Hello!

You can check your pulse, blood pressure and ECG to rule out any problems.

I would suggest you not to worry and go progressively and keep it as a long term goal. There will be dyspnoea (breathlessness) initially and slowly you will adapt.

I would also suggest you "swimming" and breathing exercises as in "yoga" or "pranayam" which might be helpful.

Take care!
