Im 16 and in the past few weeks ive noticed a problem with my left shoulder. When i hunch forward, slightly raising my shoulders, i noticed that my left shoulder rises alot more than my right. With investigation i noticed that my right shoulder blade goes in and therefore pushes my shoulder forward like normal, but my left shoulder blade does not "go in" instead moving up, pushing my shoulder up with it. The thing is tho there is no pain at all, and it feels less restricted than my right. Ive been doing a lot of weights recently and apparently i may have ripped a tendon in my shoulder and have been advised to stop, but i dont think this is the cause. Ive been doing "shrug" exercises in an attempt to fix this problem. Is this wise?

How are you feeling?
Doing Shrug exercises for shoulder weaknesses is advisable, but if you feel there is a tendon rupture then it might not be possible to strengthen it unless you repair it or treat it.
If you give little detail regarding your symptomatology it will helpful in discussing further.
Where is your pain if you have to show with help of an index finger?
What movements, if any, exacerbate your pain or discomfort?
Does your shoulder ever give way?
Did your shoulder previously have pain, but is now only stiff?
How long have you had shoulder pain and have you tried anything to help it?
Any patient who comes with query of shoulder pain, the differential diagnosis of common causes includes the following four entities:
1. Impingement syndrome and rotator cuff disease. 2. Rotator cuff calcific tendonitis.
3. Biceps tendonitis. 4. Superior labral anterior posterior (SLAP) lesions,
