Slow digestion

Slow digestion

My digeston is particularly slow.
I eat well, and am quite active and for the last 2 months have made a concious effort to eat a good amount of fibre and iodine rich foods, and have been having psyllium drinks every day and night, but it doensn't make a difference.

I had my blood tested early last year and the doctor i saw said i had a "mildly underactive" thyroid, but not enough for it to be  condition."

I am currently trying to lose a bit of weight and am finding it very hard. I tend to lose about 3-4 kilos easily and then nothing for months thereafter.

I expressed this to the doctor and he tried to put me on an appetite suppresent, but i refused because that was not my problem.

Can you please advise? Thanks so much! :D

If you are eating a lot of fiber but not drinking enough water, then that fiber basically stays in your body.  Fiber onlys works properly when "lubricated."  Since it sounds like your diet consists mainly of fiber-filled foods, you must be sure to drink A LOT of water each day.

Hi, I would like to add to the discussion that i think it is good that you are taking fiber, and like the other person said drink lots of water, but you have to remember that some fish, chicken and turkey is good, with vegetables and fruits.  I have slow digestion too and i take a 5-6 papaya enzymes, after i eat, that really helps and i like the ones with the good taste that you chew.
I recently got a book called "The right food for your blood type", and I am the 0 type, it says i need protein, and it does make me feel better. See if your library has it, I am sure it will help you with what foods are good for you.
If i eat a salad I like to make my own salad dressing, which consists of chopped parsley, garlic and extra virgin olive oil.   Hope this helps you out.  cora
