Snapping sound while excercising in my right ear.

by christinamarie, Jul 20, 2005 12:00AM
I am 27 years old and for about a month and a half now I have been having this click/snapping sound in my ear when I exercise or run!  It's driving me crazy.  It occurred after I had a very bad sinus infection that left my right ear plugged for an entire week w/ excruciating pain.  I was afraid I damaged it or it was still swollen.  I have been to two different doctors.  First said that my Eustachian tube may be swollen and put me on antibiotics.  This had no effect on it.  A few days ago I went to another doctor who said that my ear look absolutely great, no problems.    Of course right after the Dr. visit the snapping started occurring when I turn my head to the right or left.  Could this be in my neck rather than my ear?  While exercising I can make the clicking stop if I put pressure behind my ear w/ my finger.  Have you ever heard of this before?

Sounds like you still have congestion somewhere.  It is unlikely though not impossible the clicking is caused by a problem of the neck.

I'm surprised the antibiotics didn't take care of the problem.  There could be residue remaining in the ear.  Try rinsing the ear with warm water mixed with peroxide while in the shower.  Do this for a few days and see if that helps.

If that doesn't work and the problem persists, you may ask your doctor for a referral to an (ENT) ear, nose, and throat specialist.

similar thing happens to me, but it's in my left ear.  however, mine just started out of the blue, not because of a sinus infection.  any suggestions to the cause?

I see all these comments are from 2005 but I am having this problem now on the left side of my head. I haven't had any sinus, ear problems. It just started randomly a few months ago. Did anyone ever get any answers as to what it might be??
