Swelling & tightness in calves after exercise

Swelling & tightness in calves after exercise

I am 44 years old and trying to improve my health by quitting smoking, eating right and exercise.  I have been using a health walker that we have in our home for exercise.  Today after walking for 30 minutes or so my I noticed my calves getting tight and swelling I had no pain but it was very uncomfortable.  They stayed this way for well over an hour after.  I would like to know what would cause this to happen and what I should do if this continues to happen. I am afraid that this could be something serious.

Hello!

I would suggest you to relax and loosen yourself by proper stretching before starting your next workout.

I would also suggest you to rehydrate yourself with fluids while working out, using proper footwear while working out and also having a healthy breakfast before you start working out in the morning.

I would suggest you to start slowly with increasing intensity and with proper acclimatization you will avoid all these symptoms.

Take care!
