Sounds like an inflamed ligamentAnterior cruciate ligament (acl) injury Tendon vs. ligament. You will probably need to take six weeks off and then start slowly. Short runs, ice and rest. Start with a couple of days between runs, then one day. Allow yourself the day off as you slowly increase the mileage. You may have some residual clicking but it shouldn't hurt or interfere with your funning.
