Thyroid and Bodybuilding

I'm into bodybuilding and weightlifting. I'm about to have a thyroidectomy and am worried as to how this will affect my future active lifestyle. Will I be able to pursue my bodybuilding, weightlifting and active lifestyle?

I'll appreciate any comments, experiences, and ideas, especially from those of you with hypothyroid, thyroidectomy, and taking synthroid.

Thanks!

I assume after a period of healing you would be fine to go back to your regular fitness routine. You may wish to ask this question to Dr. Lupo on the thyroid forum

If I was u I would tell your doc that u want to try Armour thyroid not synthroid. It is real dessicated thyroid from pigs. It is the original thyroid treatment since 1800s. A lot of people say they feel better on Armour rather than the synthetics. Also the different brands of synthetics all have different effects. I feel different on every brand that I have tried. Synthroid seems to be the worst brand for me.I tried Armour and it seems like it would be better if I could ever get adjusted to it. It's hard to switch if you're used to the synthetics. I wish I was started on Armour.
