Treatment of Planter Fasciitis

In treatment for Planter Fasciitis has anyone tried Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) and what was the result? After how many treatments?

As a retired podiatrist I would recommend cortisone injections and rest to heal the foot.

Hi, I'm new here.  Story for you and if anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it.  I was having pains in the heel and arch of my left foot.  Went to the podiatrist and took cortisone shots for inflamed fascia.  They helped for a while.  But before I agreed to the injections, I had ultrasound and it made it feel better for a while.  New orthodics same thing, for a while.  Then I ruptured my plantar fascia while walking and was in a boot and non weight bearing for 6 weeks.  Then went back to work (I am a floor nurse in a hospital and am constantly running),  I have been suffering from pain, pulling sensations, and numbness in my toes.  Have been returning to the doctor to explain this and tell him that the pain is not getting any better, doc says I've taken 12 xrays I cannot find anything wrong.  I told him, I don't care you don't see anything!  Something is not right. I waited for it to get better, it didn't.  I am hear because I cannot stand this pain anymore.  Why is it that doctor's don't believe you when you tell them is something wrong and you are in pain?  What is going on that doctor's won't medicate patients?  I thought pain was the 6th vital sign.  Anyway,  Finally got an MRI one YEAR after my injury.  I had a broken bone in my third toe that whole time.  This doctor now put me back in a boot and I have been on light duty for 2 months and he wants 3 more weeks  and work my way back up to full duty.  Today was my first day of walking most of the day and I don't know if this is going to heal.  Frankly, I'm depressed about all of it.

After reading the story it is very clear in medical profession to know that doctors and paramedics are the people who are neglected mostly for their own medical health problems.

A proper X-ray analysed by a radiologist or an MRI long back would have diagnosed your problem.

You have to continue to wear your boot and try to see if your metatarsal or the phalanges whatever you have fractured  in the 3rd toe would heal.

Healing would depend on the time of injury, age of the person and the site of the injury.

As this is weight bearing area you would neet to be careful and take all necessary precautions.

The last option would be surgery (open reduction and internal fixation) and i would suggest you to follow up with a proper orthopedician.
