Umbilcal hernia

I am 31 male and have an umbilical hernia.  1.5 cm in size from my ct-scan, I don't have insurance anymore.  Just lost my job after they found out i was going to take time off for a surgery.  What's the best way to get help for surgery and what are the best exercises to do without straining it???

Hello!

Hernia is an abnormal opening or a gap on your abdominal wall.

Any exercise which increases the abdominal pressure is not suggested for you. This might make the hernia surgery a failure.

Take all instructions from your surgeon and follow them.

Take care!

Hi,

I’m having surgery on my umbilical hernia this week and was interested in why to "avoid cycling and jogging"? Can these activities cause damage after having surgery?

Hi,

How are you?
Umbilical hernia usually resolves on its own by the age of 5 years. It must be differentiated from paraumbilical hernia which is more common in adults.

It is important that you do not lift weights and do not do strenuous exercises till the time you can get it operated. You can go for brisk walks but avoid cycling and jogging.

Hope this helps!
