aerobics and headaches

Whenever I do any kind of aerobic activity, I get an unbelievable headache. My hands swell and the headache will last until the next day. My face will also turn red. I do not have high blood pressure but I do take effexor xr. My Dr. said that this would not cause it but has no idea what does. The headache is the same as when I get too much sun. I do not want to stop excersising and I stay hydrated before, during, and after.

it sounds like you need to use proper breathing techniques....if you deprive the muscles of good amounts of oxygen then you will cause a headache..
many people hold their breathe when they exercise, causing an increase in carbondioxde in the blood.  this causes (what my mom used to call) turtle headaches.
remember when you exercise to maintain a steady breathing pattern.

Personally I would get a stress test to make sure nothing is inappropriate.  It could be your blood pressure is rising too much during exercise and this is causing the headaches.  I'm no doctor but I think this would call for further examination.  I've been a runner for 35 years and I have never heard of this.
