You seem very knowledgeable about exercise and fitness and thyroid issues etc.  I have Graves Disease which is in remission right now.  My weight still seems to flucuate though.  Since you have seen my previous posts, you may remember that I am trying to "get in shape".  Realisticly, how long will it take for me to begin to feel more fit.  I have so many physical limitations it is hard for me to strength train.  I have tendonitis aggravated by shoulder impingment syndrome on one side, bad knees, back etc.  What the heck can I do?  I enjoy walking, but its the strength part that is difficult.

It depends on how you define "feel fit".  Most individuals who begin exercising feel the benefits immediately (feel more energized, sleep better, feel healthier, etc...).  My advice is find a personal trainer who is certified, has at least 2 years of experience, and whom you feel comfortable with.  Interview them and see if you think they are a good match for you.  Communicate with them about what your overall health and fitness goals are. Tell them about your physical limitations and the fact that these limitations concern you.  Ask them if they have experience with the types of musculoskeletal problems you have.

If you do your homework, you can find really qualified trainers that are compassionate, experienced, and motivating-it just takes a little more time than walking into a gym and picking a random trainer.

good luck!

Thanks for the advice I will definitely start looking into the personal trainer idea, since I really need some specific goals and guidance.
