hardened calf muscles

hardened calf muscles

I am 63 yo in pretty good health, but at least 30 lbs overweight.  I spend a lot of time sitting so am trying to walk in the evenings at least 45 min.  I try to stretch prior to walking but not sure if i am stretching properly.  After walking at a meduium to rapid pace for about 10 min my calf muscles begin to ache and tighten up.  They get to a point where the pain is almost unbearable and I have to stop and rest.  The muscles are extremely tight especially on the outer portion of my legs close to the shin bone, (both equally tight).  I have gout and take medicine to relieve the pain there and rarely have a flareup of the gout. I want to walk and work into some jogging but the pain is excruciating. Any thoughts?

hi buddy,
nice going sir. keep up the good exercise regime of yours. Well you look to be having symptoms of exertional compartment syndrome. This is resulting into tightness of your calf region. Please visit an orthopaedician for diagnosis confirmation. And do let us know also.,
regards
