Start with walks and also exercises at your ankle joint.
You can do dorsiflexion i.e. pushing your foot up, keeping your leg straight at the ankle joint and also plantar flexion i.e. pushing your foot down , keeping your leg straight at the ankle joint, while sleeping or sitting in a chair. Repeat these exercises 4-5 times a day for few minutes and that would be good to push the venous blood from the lower areas and also prevents venous pooling.
Take a second opinion and also consult your treating doctor when to start exercising.
Take care!
