Are you a body builder?

Not so much a body builder, just a physically fit guy.  I actually have only been working out for about a year.  I used to be the skinny guy, only weighing in at 160 and now I'm 225.  It feels good to be bigger, to be in shape.  You feel better mentally, you look better physically; fitness is very rewarding.  I read that your husband is a body builder.  Does he compete?  How about yourself, do you compete?

by ryn21, Feb 13, 2007 12:00AM
I just realized they delete posts when you put a website up.

No he is not a pro. He does compete hasn't in a while but we are working to get him to in a couple of years. we are working on getting me to be a stay home mom right now. No I don't compete. Maybe one day. that take a lot of disapline. Don't know if I have that in me. I LOVE my cheat days too much :).

You sound like you have had some GREAT gains this year! WOW. Maybe you should look to compete expecially if you are young (body more resilliant). GO FOR IT. It is defenetly an experience of a life time!!!

by live4fitness, Feb 13, 2007 12:00AM
I have not put any of our sites on here b/c they will delete them. Sorry. I would but they don't like that :(

i know kar.... :) i saw it already.. was nice and great... anyways, how are you? just trained biceps and fores yesterday...

by live4fitness, Feb 13, 2007 12:00AM
I did light legs today. Trying to get them back into shape. sx sucks!!!Now my chest is sore form yesterday and  my traps too. I have not been sticking with my normal work out schedule due to being bored and physical therapy.

How many sets do you do for your forarms? I usually do 2 sets, under and over, with a straight bar 10 reps each

by hardcoreback, Feb 13, 2007 12:00AM
To: karen
Before I follow the same routine with progressive weights by week.. but right now am more of a instinct guy…I trained forearms with the best exercise to hit the two major part of it..  I first do a reverse concentration curls contracting my forearms muscle, the upper one… for a bout 3 sets, the reps may vary, then I do dumbbell behind back curls… then I do a reverse cable curls… the sets doesn’t matter its how you contract and stress the muscle for me… overtraining isn’t at stake with instinct training..  Your muscle will mostly stop hitting a full ROM if its already done and tired… that’s it..and I wanted to stretch so that the bellies reach its full potential…..

by hardcoreback, Feb 13, 2007 12:00AM
To: live
i guess you're like in the like of mike mentzer's HIT and devised by Dorian yates.. am not like of arnold but am open into any theories of training.. i had read milions of training techniques and applied them all.. bottom line is.. training for someone is totally for someone.... lol

by live4fitness, Feb 13, 2007 12:00AM
Yes I do believe that everyone is different but I take recommendations from our friends more than the mags, but i have that lugery.

I believe that you should only do 3 sets in a excersise and if you can do more than 8 reps then you need to bump up on your weights. I don't beleve in a lot of resistance trainig b/c you will get tired with no matter what weight you use and how slow you go. Now I defednetly don't think momentum is the way either. I count 1 2 up contract and then 1 2 down. Some exer. I will hold for 2 counts on the contraction, boy you feel that.

by hardcoreback, Feb 13, 2007 12:00AM
To: karen
yah.. lol :P well, heres what i believe on.. negatives are the ones causing ,uch of the soreness in the muscles... given, you do 3 sets, but its a total failure if you cant totally hit the muscle ur into... given your doing 3 sets of barbell curls, but ,most of it is done by cheating and swaying back.. what am saying is you need a lot of concentration and experience before you can do a one all out set of exercise.. yah feel me maam>? :P

by live4fitness, Feb 13, 2007 12:00AM
I totally agree. You don't want to use your shoulders in bicep curls. But if you don't push than you won't grow!. Now when I do hammers it is usually till complete burn out. start at 30 and go down to 5. OUCH. Like a lot of the time for example chest Real strong on first exer. then second strong and 3rd not as strong will sometimes do a lighter weight and twice as many reps. Now they recommend doing intense interval training with weights. I am going to try this out on friday with back and bicerps and see how it works. Need to burn off this fat!!!!

I take a bunch. legs is my hubby best body part

by hardcoreback, Feb 13, 2007 12:00AM
To: lol
well, will hitting them twice a week beneficial.. i guess not.. since the mroe recovery the better.. but if your husband is recovering faster than a normal man guess, hes an exception. whats his measurements? i mean, the size of his arm? 20 inches?

by live4fitness, Feb 13, 2007 12:00AM
arms ~18 or 19 legs im am guessing 28 maybe they are big. recover period depends on the person. If you sleep well and EAT good you can do amazing things. My body tells me when I have been over trainig and the results stop.

by live4fitness, Feb 14, 2007 12:00AM
i am leaving have a goodone. talk to you tomorrow

by live4fitness, Feb 14, 2007 12:00AM
either that or there sytem is slow or retarted :)

by live4fitness, Feb 14, 2007 12:00AM
looked at the hep place didn't see your name ? Why do you think you have hep? and if you are concerned go to the dr.

by live4fitness, Feb 14, 2007 12:00AM
I wanted to talk to you about over trainig. You seen very concerned with this. If you work out chest on day and then the next day work out triceps then yes you are over trainig your triceps you use them for chest too. if you give yourself a few day reat before using that muscle again it should be fine. Your body will tell you if you over train. My husband found out if he does legs 2 times a week with many days to recover his legs are growing. I as well have noticed little muscle loss and a lot of fat loss. :)

You really need to get your diet right to grow and recover well and taking a lot of vit doesn't always do that for you. eating is the best!!!

I hope this helps

by hardcoreback, Feb 14, 2007 12:00AM

by live4fitness, Feb 14, 2007 12:00AM

The only thing I took was Diesel Test 2010 by Get Diesel Nutrition.  That stuff will definitely put some mass on you, but you need to up your caloric intake as well as protein intake. I also took No-Xplod for a short period of time, but found that the effects wore off after a few weeks and I also couldnt stomach it anymore (it tastes horrible and made me nauseous).  In addition to that, I supplemented Glutamine, Amino Acids, B-Complex, Multivitamins, Magnesium, Omega-3 and ate like a madman.

One thing I do before an intense workout is eat a piece of tomato pizza (thin crust) LOADED up with gravy and sliced chicken breast from a place near by and would notice freakish like energy from just that.  Tomatoes have great nutritional properties because they are high in Magnesium, Potassium, Lycopene, many essential minerals that the body needs.  The combination of these minerals on top of the carbs is probably what gives me such energy levels to able me to work out so intensely.

I am actually researching a product called Endothil right now and will post back my findings within a week or so.  Supposedly, this product works great when it comes to increasing muscle mass and recovery times.

Who's getting married?  I heard you mention a honeymoon.  Anyway, I am putting together a healthy meal plan to increase my calorie intake for the next two months.  I want to make some quick gains before the summer, but I also want to keep the fat loss I have achieved up to now.  Im ready for an intense 4-5 months of exercise.  Now if I could only stop yearning for that smooth, refreshing taste of beer...any suggestions?? Do they have a beer "methadone"?

by live4fitness, Feb 15, 2007 12:00AM
To: ryn21
Honeymoon, LOL  Enjoy a beer on your cheat day!!!I have been doing a lot of research lately too.  I am concidering trying Dicana, Lean dream, and maybe DCP. have you tried any of these?

I wish I could eat like that before I work out. I don't have the machine yet :)

And you are so right about nutrition helping with size, I tell hardcoreback that but he still isn't listening!!!

I was a bit slow on the honeymoon joke..lol.  Anyway, I havent heard many things about those supplements.  I dont know anyone who has taken any of them and you can only trust online reviews so much.  I was interested at the claims they make, not decreasing muscle mass and all.  That's one thing I am afraid of with strict dieting.  I want to stay at 6'0 220 but with 15%- BF.  Im going to step up my training over the next 4 weeks. I got off of my ECA stack, gained a few pounds back.  I hate dieting.  I have to do it though, trying to get cut up for the summer time.  What BF% does your husband have during the competition season?

by live4fitness, Feb 19, 2007 12:00AM
To: ryn21
Did the ECA stack help with your dieting? For competition I think he was around 3-5%. I really don't remember. You can't stay there for long. Alot of our friends stay ~10-15% during off season. They look real good. Big, full, vains, and some cuts. It is just real hard to stay lean. They usually follow the same thing we do, eat clean 6 days a week and cheat on one day. I really am curious about the stack. I don't know if I told you I had sx and am slowly getting back to the gym and feel a little discouraged because the weight just isn't coming off like it was. I have lost some inches but not that much. Just real depressed right now and on top of that I have a cold so no gym :(

by ryn21, Feb 21, 2007 12:00AM
To: live4fitness
I actually started feeling sick at the gym last night myself, had to leave early.  The Ephedrine/Caffeine/Aspirin stack works great!  I knocked off 12 pounds in 5 weeks.  I put 5 pounds right back on though.  ECA stacks will definitely help you lose weight, but monitor your heart rate...my HR used to get as high as 190+ with intense training while on the ECA.

by live4fitness, Feb 21, 2007 12:00AM
I didn't realize that was what the ECA stack was. I have some old over the counter diet pills that have that stuff in it. I just started taking them b/c my appitite can be SOOOOO over whelming. I know no the best but I HAVE to get this weight off. I feel desperate. It also seems to help a little with the cold because of the ephadrine in it.

I got the other stuff in. I can't say what but it seems to be working. I read somewhere else that you have to take 10 grams of fat with it for it to work. I consume 30 grams total a day so about 5 at each of my meals. It make you warm :) which is nice because I work in a hospital where it is very cold. I will let you know if it works.
