sudden fatigue

I have been physically fit most of my life, have done yoga for years and in the past several years have increased my cardio (not my favorite) by walking/jogging almost daily.  For about a month now though, I haven't done much of anything (busy schedule, several projects, etc..).  Today something happened that really scared me.  I was at Chuck E Cheese and tried to play a jump rope game (jump over the electronic "rope", faster and faster to try and beat the machine).  After 2 very short turns (b/c I couldn't seem to jump high enough), my legs almost gave out, my heart was pounding out of control and I almost passed out!  There have been periods in my life when exercise took a back seat for a few weeks but even then, I'd maintained a certain level of physical endurance.  I must say, I was very shocked at my body's reaction today and am wondering if something might be wrong with me.  Can anyone offer any insight?

It sounds to me like lack of food which is our supply of energy, lack of warm-up with then intense cardio (high HR) would definately give someone extreme fatigue. I don't think it is much more than that, but to be safe you can ask your doctor if you would like.

Hmmm.  Well, I'm 37 - that's probably a factor!  I'm phycially fit - can easily hike several miles effortlessly in high altitudes, play tennis and basically just run around with my kids w/out breaking a sweat.  I've never been a real cardio buff but have never had my body fail so dismally before on what I thought was such a simple bit of exercise (the jump rope).  I had not warmed up - I was just walking around the place w/ my kids and saw the game (which I'd played on previous visits and barely gotten winded).  I hadn't eaten for several hours prior to jumping rope.  My heart rate, while I didn't take it, was through the roof.  I could feel it just about jumping out of my chest. Perhaps I'm making too much of it - it just was so shocking to feel so weak!

With limited information it is hard for me to understand what is going on with your body. You say you are busy and exercise all the time, do you take rest days for your body to recover? Do you drink adequite water...3 Litres daily? How much food did you have previous to the jump rope routine? as that will determine adequite energy or not. How high did your heart rate get and did your body have time to warm up before you did the vigorous workout?
