I am a very physically active 28 year old male. 5'9", 177lbs. I have a small umbilical hernia (1/2 inch protrusion at the top of the naval). There is no pain present when the injury/surrounding area is palpated but there is a very strange, but very mild, discomfort. My question is: What sort of excerises can I do with an umbilical hernia? Specifically, can I do abdominal excercies? Other questions... What symptoms should I look for which could indicate that the hernia is becoming "strangulated"? Is it worth seeking surgery for an umbilical hernia?
