wrist pain doing pushups

by randomhero137, Oct 01, 2009 09:03PM
Hi, for the past few months I have had pain in my right wrist and its only painfull to do pushups or certain movements when lifting things, im able to pop my wrist in two places, one is pulling my wrist to the side towards me and the other is pushing my wrist down like if im trying to touch the bottom of my forearm. but i cant pop it all the time and i dont feel any pain when im not doing anything. I would of just gone to a doctor but im in a country that doesnt have any good medical help. I lift very large wieghts including 110 to 120 IBS dumbells in each hand. for awhile i was doing this with no wrist support gloves, i figured maybe that was the reason for my pain but not sure, the same pain was in my left wrist for a lil while but went away along time ago, and im still able to pop that wrist in both places. wasnt able to pop my wrists before i noticed the pain. One guy told me it could be tendenites but i wasnt sure how accurate. I was told it is not fractured cause i had no reaction to a few tests this doc gave me. but im still able to do all my workouts with heavy weight, but when it comes to push ups or doing anything that bends my wrist in that direction, i feel the pain. thats all for now, thanks for the help.

Hello!

Avoid heavy weights and pushups which is causing pain in the wrist. You can do them till it does not cause pain or any other symptoms and try wearing gym gloves during weights etc.

Apply ice and take intermittent anti inflammatory drugs.

Consult a good orthopedician and I would suggest an MRI to rule out any tendon or bone problem. Can go for an X-ray of the wrists also which will rule out any stress fracture etc.

Take care
