Floaters, blue field entoptic phenomenon, blur vision, etc...

by VRSMN, Nov 29, 2006 12:00AM
Hi,

In June, I noticed for the first time that I had a floater in my right eye. I went to the doctor, and he advised me to take an eye test.

I did it in the same day, and the result was "vision as perfect as it can be". In fact I am 32 years old and never had any problems with my vision. Until that week.

Several weeks after, I realised that the blue field entoptic phenomenon was more and more intense. I always had it, but now I can see in many situations, while before was only if looking to the sky. At the same time I realised some kind of phenomenon: like a small worm of light moving in my vision during some 1/2 second and then dissapering.

This does not happen all the days, and not always on the same place. It could happen several times a day, or none. If I am tired and using the computer a lot, I see it more.

I decided to do a second eye test. Explained everything that was happening, and the result was the same as before. The doctor said... maybe you have Visual Migraine... could it be??? Sometimes I have Migraines, but this things happen even if don't have an headache.

Two more things... I do see halos at night and if looking at fluorescent lamp, I move my eyes, I see a kind cloud passing... in the same way as the Floater. It is like having blur vision, but only in some parts.

Would all this be explained with changes in the Vitreous?

no, i do not think its a migraine.  i think you've just trained yourself to see it more often then most, and are now having a hard time ignoring it.

everyone sees a halo when they look directly at fluorescent lamps, and MOST people see halos at night.  no, that does not lead me to think any of your listed symptoms are from "changes in the vitreous".

So what do you think it could be?

It is very strange to my that in 6 months I developed all this things and there is no explanation.

it's probably as the doc said you've started to notice it and now fixate.

i also see the same thing and have slightly low blood pressure.

the worm of light you see is just a blood cell slowly creeping along the vascalature at the back of the eye...i get those also...sometime they're bluish white and other times black when my eyes are closed.
