Floaters and Dry Eye Syndrome

My optometrist says I have dry eye syndrome.  I've been on Restasis for 2 months and at my dr. visit last week, he said my eyes were still dry.  I've heard Restasis can sometimes take several months to "kick in" - do you concur?
I use the computer a lot, read a lot and commute a long distance to work, so perhaps my eyes are extra dry and taking longer to respond?
Also, any relation between dry eye and floaters?  I am annoyed by floaters on a daily basis, when I mentioned them to my eye doctor he agreed they are annoying, said he had a dozen of them himself at the moment, but didn't seem concerned about mine.  (He did examine my eyes with a machine that "shot air" into my eyes, so I suppose if I had any serious eye problems, he would have seen them?)  Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

yes.  i tell patients not to judge restasis at all either way until they've been on it for *3* months.

heavy computer users are notorious for having drier eyes b/c they dont blink as much.  i personally kind of doubt that is what is making you "take a long time" to respond to restasis.

no relation at all bewteen dry eyes and floaters.

the machine that shot air into your eyes was unrelated to either dry eyes or floaters.  it was measuring your intra-ocular pressure, a risk factor in glaucoma.

Thank you very much for your response. Is it "normal" to be bothered by floaters on a daily basis, and would it be better to be examined by an opthamologist as opposed to an optometrist?

*most* people over 30 are bothered to some extent by floaters. (i'm sure the next thing you're going to tell me is that you're under 30, right? lol)

no, i do not think that the vast majority of people sufferring from floaters (or any other condition) necessarily need to see an ophthalmologist unless they are ready for or need SURGICAL intervention.

LOL..nope, I'm 40!  I may just be increasingly aware of the floaters now that I have the dry eye, but it just seems that there are SO many and they are there every day!  Very annoying.  Thanks again for your information.
