Floaters and allergies

Here is my story, recently I have had numerous floaters.  It seems as if the more I concintrate on them the more I see. I additionally see an occasional squiggley flashes when looking at a white or light colored back ground.  I have been to the optometrist and to the opthomologist and both said it was allergies.  Had my pupils dialated twice, and both Drs said the same thing.  I am prescribed to Alrex.  Additionally I have not been able to wear my contacts since April.  Can ocular eye allergies be a long term problem?  Additionally, are floaters ever related to a neurological problem.  I had a Ct scan because I have had headaches.  I dont know if floaters and flashes cause headaches because it seems that I concintrate on them.  Any advice to the contact issue? I hate not being able to wear my contacts.  Thanks!

yes, ocular allergies can be a chronic, long term problem.

no, floaters are not related to any neurological problem.

true vitreal floaters cant be caused by allergies, so i kind of disagree with your other docs on that point.  UNLESS the floaters that YOU have are not true vitreal floaters but rather filamentary keratitis or something of that nature which is causing you to see MUCUS floating around in your tear film.

it is very difficult to wear contacts when you have moderate-to-severe ocular allergy.  i dont know what else to tell you about that.  it aint easy.
