Foreign Object Left Eye

I have a black speck under the pupil in my left eye.  THis is not painful.  I only noticed it while applying make-up in the mirror.  Saw an eye specialist and was told this was a "floter".  I don't "see" this speck, it is only visable from the outside.  Is it possible he missed it?  Is this a floater or foreign object?  I'm very concerned, it has been over two weeks and it is still visable.

a 'floater' generally describes something that nis inside of your eye.  not viewable in the mirror or from outside, but rather something you notice in your VISION.

anything you can see that appears to be ON THE SURFACE OF YOUR EYE when you look at your own eye in the MIRROR *is not* a 'floater'.

if you 'see' a black or grey spot or fuzzy line IN YOUR VISION, and the spot follows your vision around (you look up, it moves up...you look left, it moves left, etc)...THAT is a floater.  floaters are usually benign, especially if they are small and not many in number.

you probably need a second opinion.
