Foreign Object in Eye

Is there anything that can be done from home, besides an eye wash, to help remove a foreign object from the eye.  A piece of concrete or other flying object entered the eye while the individual was edging the sidewalk.  Irritation has increased since the incident occurred on Friday.  Since clinics will be closed tomorrow, are there any other options than the emergency room?  Thank you for your help.

just keep it lubricated, if it is not embedded it may find it's way out with an eye wash, that's your only choice besides a Dr.visit.  Good Luck!   BTW foreign object removal is not painful!

The best thing to do is to let the eye do its job and it will flush out the object on its own by producing tears.

Thank you for your help.  We ended up seeing an eye doctor the night we posted our question, and she removed what she thought was metal.  Everything is fine now.  It's amazing how quickly the eye heals.  God made our bodies so wonderfully!
