IOL's , High Myopia and risk of retinal detachment

What are the risks (percentage) of retinal detachments following ReZoom and High Myopia?   Is the risk always there due to the high myopia or does it increase with age/cataracts, etc?

I am considering ReZoom Lens for cataracts that are just forming. I have severe dry eyes and possible PVD bilaterally - although my retina looks good.  I have several autoimmune disorders (Crohns, PBC, Asthma) that are currently under control.  I take prednisone, Remicaid, Lipitor, Pulmacort.
My prescription is OD -11.25 x .5 x 105
                   OS -9.00  x 1.00 x 77

Family Hx of Glaucoma, and cataracts.

After discussion with my opthamalogist I have been told that my chance of developing cataracts is almost 100%.  I have been told in my case it is not a matter of "if" but "when"

My thoughts are to do it now while my autoimmune diseases are under control unless the risks of Retinal Detachment will be less as I get older.  Any thoughts?

i dont think there are enough  rezooms out there to have percentages on RD after the extraction.  i could be wrong, but i have no idea what the numbers are.  maybe someone else will.

i do not think the risk of RD will increase or decrease with age.  it should be the same risk now as it would be later...

Thank-you for the information.   I will be finalizing the eye surgery within the next two weeks.  I will keep you posted on how it goes.

I am wondering how you are doing ---have you had the surgery done and how did it go?  I am in a similar situation --- high myope (-12.00), considering ReZoom, immunosuppressed due to kidney transplant.   Keep me posted.
